Jurgen Klopp is preparing for his final game as Liverpool manager after nine years in charge. He says it has been "the most intense week of my life" as he bids goodbye to players, club staff and fans. Klopp has forged such a connection with the port city that he has been compared to Bill Shankly, the club's most legendary manager. He led the team to seven major trophies including a sixth Champions League title and a first English league championship in 30 years. Klopp says, "I would not be happy if I'd have thought I could have done more. I couldn't. I couldn't have done more."

Formula One drivers have run and cycled around the track at Imola to mark 30 years since three-time champion Ayrton Senna was killed in a crash there in the 1994 race. McLaren driver Lando Norris arrives at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix seeking to follow up on his first career win at the last race in Miami. Champion Max Verstappen was only fifth in the first practice session after going into a gravel trap while on a fast pace on his last lap. Charles Leclerc was fastest for Ferrari, ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz Jr.

Shane Lowry tied a major championship record by firing a 9-under 62 in the third round of the PGA Championship. The 37-year-old Irishman recorded nine birdies without a bogey at a very gettable Valhalla to match the lowest round ever in any of the four major tournaments. Four players had previously posted a 62 across the PGA, Masters, British Open and U.S. Open, the latest by Xander Schauffele in the opening round on Thursday. Just over 48 hours later Lowry matched it to thrust himself into contention for his second major title.

On a weekend commemorating Ayrton Senna, Max Verstappen has matched the late Brazilian's record for consecutive pole positions in Formula 1 at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Verstappen made it eight in a row when his Red Bull topped qualifying on Saturday just ahead of the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Miami GP winner Lando Norris. Piastri was later penalised three grid places for impeding Haas' Kevin Magnussen in Q1 and dropped to fifth. Verstappen's streak dates back to the last race of last season. Including the seven in seven races this year, the three-time defending champion has drawn level with Senna on eight consecutive pole positions. Senna's record over 1988-89 has stood for 35 years.
